AUAP Signed MoU With WFUNA

We are very proud to announce that on November 8, 2018, the AUAP has entered into a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Federation of the United Nations Associations (WFUNA). WFUNA's Secretariat is based at One UN Plaza in New York City and at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, with offices also in Seoul, Korea and Brussels, Belgium.

WFUNA is a global nonprofit organization representing and coordinating the membership of over 100 national United Nations Associations (UNAs) around the world, and their thousands of constituents. Guided by the vision of a United Nations that is a powerful force in meeting common global challenges and opportunities, WFUNA works to strengthen and improve the United Nations.

WFUNA and AUAP agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a cooperative framework within which AUAP and WFUNA will develop and implement educational programs as well as other activities related to the field of education in UN-related matters.

The principle aim under the MoU is to promote the UN values through educational programs and activities as a concrete manifestation of their common goal to defend and strengthen cooperation, global citizenship and world peace. As a first step towards achieving these aims, the parties have identified six thematic areas for collaboration. They include:

a) United Nations values;
b) Global Citizenship;
c) Peace and Security;
d) Sustainable Development;
e) Human Rights; and
f) Asia – Pacific educational cooperation.

Signing the MoU on 8 Nov 2017, on the occasion of the 32nd AUAP General Conference in Xi’An International University, China, are Mr. Jay Jethwa, Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of WFUNA (and also a senior advisor to AUAP) and Dr Sung-hee Nam, President of AUAP from South Korea.

We will contact our AUAP members with more details and the opportunities that lie ahead for each of your universities to take part in this important program.
